Welcome To Both Sides Of The Table
Why I started this blog—and who it’s for.
I wear two hats every single day: I’m a special education teacher, and I’m also a parent of a child with special needs.
I’ve sat on both sides of the IEP table.
I’ve written goals—and I’ve cried reading them.
I’ve celebrated tiny victories in the classroom—and held my breath through tough days at home.
I know what it feels like to be the expert, and what it feels like to have more questions than answers.
That’s why I started this blog.
“Both Sides of the Table” is a space for parents who are navigating the special needs journey. Whether your child has just been diagnosed, or you’re years into the process, my goal is to give you support, encouragement, and practical tools from someone who gets it—because I live it.
Here, you’ll find:
• Real stories from my life as a parent and teacher
• Tips for working with schools and advocating for your child
• Resources that have helped me (and the ones that didn’t!)
• A safe space where it’s okay to not have it all figured out
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, exhausted, fiercely proud, or just in need of someone who understands—this is for you.
I’m so glad you’re here.
